About The Event
A loved one's birthday coming up? Or just fancy treating a friend to discover the huge variety of wild flavours in the capital?
These gift vouchers will allow them to pick the course that suits them, whether that's a spring forage for greens or an autumn hunt for mushrooms, fruits and berries. I'll send round a desinged-up gift voucher upon purchase.
Vouchers are valid for 18 months from purchase.
What they can expect:
The course will start off with an introduction to the safety, legality and sustainability of picking wild food. We’ll then go for a walk around whichever green space we are in, talking about plant families and their identification features (an extremely useful tool for the beginner forager), poisonous species, seasonality, harvesting, pickling, processing, fermentation, cooking, and flavour.
I’ll bring snacks and drinks I’ve made so guests can taste the full potential of the wild foods we come across. Expect things like chocolate jelly ear mushrooms, stinging nettle ravioli, fermented three-cornered leek and crème fraiche, pineapple weed liqueur, and more.
After the walk guests should be comfortable with the basics and have the confidence to go out picking on their own. I’ll recommend the best books and resources to get them started. I’ll also send a follow up e-mail after the walk with identification information and recipes for the wild food we’ve found.
I’ll send round an e-mail the week prior to the course with an exact meet location. The course begins at 10am.
What to bring:
We’ll be outdoors, so guests need to bring suitable clothing come rain or shine, sturdy footwear, a drink of water, and a notepad and pen to take notes if they wish to.
Children are very welcome on the courses. Kids under 10 go free, and for kids aged 10-14 it’s £10. Well behaved dogs also welcome.
